Dr. Who’s Christopher Eccleston to join Heroes as invisible man

Thursday, January 11th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Heroes has signed on Christopher Eccleston (Dr. Who) as the new hero on Heroes. And rumor has it that his superpower will be invisibility… that will be fun to watch for fans!

Last week, Masi told us that the onetime Dr. Who is going be a mentor type for Peter. He actually even called him “Peter’s Yoda!” I’m assuming Christopher has powers of his own, and, as I mentioned before, I’m fairly certain he is a new Hero and his power is invisibility. Sources tell me the invisible man is the new Hero.

Hiro to get a love interest on Heroes

Monday, January 8th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Ah, gotta love it that even Hiro is going to be getting some love. Masi Oka, who plays Hiro on Heroes, recently did an interview with MovieWeb, and one of the questions asked was whether he would be getting a new love interest anytime soon.

Yes, lets put it this way, I heard from Tim somewhere down the line, I’m not gonna say when, somewhere down the line there will be another love interest with Hiro.

He also goes on to say that the character is supposed to be a new character, but that you just never know what the writers will come up with!

Heroes Claire gets a flashback episode

Thursday, January 4th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

There is definitely something in Claire’s background that would explain things about her Hero-ness. And a future episode of Heroes is going to flashback fourteen years to when Claire was adopted. And it is also going explain just why she ended up being cared for by Horned Rim Glasses AKA HRG.

No word yet on when this episode will air. But I know many will be very interested to learn more about her… I just hope it isn’t setting us up for a Heroes death!

A Hero will die by the end of the season on Heroes

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

You know, it always sucks when a show kills off one of their main characters, especially when you have no idea when it will happen or who it will be (a la Lost). And Heroes is going to follow suit by killing off another one of their Heroes, according to Kristen from E!

It will be interesting to see if this is a season finale event they are planning or if it will happen before then. And message boards are buzzing over who the unlucky hero will be!

James Kyson Lee has gained super popularity this season as Ando on Heroes. But James Kyson Lee is also paying a visit to Las Vegas, where he is set to guest star on a January episode of the popular NBC show.

Heroes t-shirts in Christmas Day football game promotion

Monday, December 25th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

NBC isn’t taking any chances that people might forget about Heroes during their winter hiatus. They plan a football tie-in today at the Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles football game today. NBC plans to distribute 10,000 Heroes t-shirts to fans, and if they end up on the air wearing their t-shirts, they get $100! Not a bad way to get a whole lot of people wearing your shirts on short notice, especially with all those holiday credit card bills en route to mailboxes!

Announcers will also be commenting on the show during the game, so if you are a fan, watch the game or TiVo it so you can fast forward to any Heroes parts :)

Heroes to air on BBC2 in 2007

Monday, November 27th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Heroes, which has been a surprise hit for NBC this season, has already been picked up for airing in the UK. BBC has picked up rights to air Heroes on BBC2. It is scheduled to begin airing in 2007, although dates have not yet been announced.

Claire’s father set to become series regular on Heroes

Monday, October 30th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Claire’s oh-so-creepy father, Mr. Bennet, will become a series regular as of the eleventh episode of the series. Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere), the unstereotypical cheerleader of the show, is somehow tied to her father’s creepy kidnapping of and experimenting on Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg). The character was also known by the name Horn Rimmed Glasses… doesn’t that just sound so X-Files?

Mr. Bennet is played by Jack Coleman, who is best known for his Dynasty days as Steven Carrington. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to remember much of Dynasty other than who shot J.R. and how it was the time when shoulder pads were all the rage (and have you SEEN what has hit the runways this season???)

Extend NBC’s Heroes with online graphic novels

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

heroes2.jpgNBC is following in the footsteps of shows like Lost that have online components for fans to enjoy after watching each new episode. But Heroes has a decidedly unique and unusual online component - graphic novels that can be either read online or printed for offline reading.

Some of the graphic novels extends on what happened on the episode, for fans who are left wanting more as each new episode concludes. Others will simply be based on the series.

At nbc.com/heroes/novels, fans can interact with the Web’s Flash creation or download a printable version of several vibrant color “pages.” The debut explores the background of the investigating Suresh character (Sendhil Ramamurthy) in ways the on-air show can’t. Each chapter “won’t necessarily be about that episode,” series creator Tim Kring said in a recent conference call, “but it can be an alternate look at what you’ve seen, or a story that just enhances your appreciation of the characters.”

It is definitely an interesting concept, and could draw new viewers into the series who are graphic novel fans, a fairly new genre of publishing that doesn’t have a wide selection available yet.

NBC orders full season for Heroes

Thursday, October 5th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Hot on the heels of the lawsuit stemming from the use of a garbage disposal in the pilot episode of Heroes, and the result that saw the offending scene cut from the show, NBC has announced they have picked up the full season of Heroes.

NBC has ordered nine additional episodes of the supernatural saga, bringing its complement to 22. In its first two airings, “Heroes” has averaged 13.5 million viewers. It ties with ABC’s “Brothers and Sisters” as the No. 1 new series among adults 18-49, the demographic coveted by advertisers.

Lets see if the series can keep itself from controversy from the remaining episodes… or perhaps they will seek it out for the publicity it will bring.  And I am interested to know if In-Sink-Erator, the garbage disposal company no one had heard of, has seen a surge of sales and interest since the lawsuit… it couldn’t have hurt sales.

NBC cuts garbage disposal scene from Heroes repeats

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

heroes2.jpg

We told you yesterday about In-Sink-Erator suing NBC for a scene in the pilot of Heroes that shows cheerleader Claire (Hayden Panettiere) running her hand through the garbage disposal only for it to miraculously heal moments later.  But NBC has decided to cut the scene from future broadcasts to prevent any issues related to the lawsuit, according to the NY Post.

NBC officials said they did not think there were any legal problems with the show, but will change the offending scene anyway.

“While we do not believe there is any legal issue with the episode as originally broadcast, we nonetheless have decided to edit the episode for future uses,” NBC officials said in a statement last night.

But since everyone is talking about the lawsuit, it is probably the best thing that could happen to Heroes, with people wanting to see the cut scene before it vanishes.  But don’t worry, I am sure someone will post it to YouTube if you missed it.

NBC’s Heroes gets sued by garbage disposal company

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Remember the scene in the pilot episode of Heroes that shows a woman putting her hand in her garbage disposal where it gets partially grinded up, then healed again.  Well, no one seemed to notice the particular brand of garbage disposal, except for the maker of the particular brand used, In-Sink-Erator.  And in the spirit of America’s litigation happy legal system, In-Sink-Erator has filed lawsuit against NBC and Heroes for using their trademark without permission and implying that their product can cause your hand to be mangled.

As part of the suit, they want to stop all repeats of the show, including on all affiliate networks (US and international) as well as online.

For now, you can still view the episode online at NBC Rewind

To be honest, I never thought you could put your hand in a running garbage disposal and not expect it to come out looking mangled, like they showed on Heroes.
